Condoleezza Rice
Condoleezza Rice is a very smart person. She is also very beautiful as seen in the picture. She had a wonderful life as a child and great parents who worked really hard which pushed her to work hard too. That's why she is the First Black Woman to be Secretary of State of the United States. Condoleezza was very honorable for being the First Black Secretary.
Condoleezza Rice was born on November 14,1954. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama in a lovely neighborhood which is called Titusville. While growing up, Condoleezza was a very intelligent child. Her parents were John Wesely Rice Jr. and Angelena Ray. Condoleezza's father unfortunately worked two jobs. He worked as a guidance counselor at a school called Ullman High School and worked at a local church called Westminster Presbyterian Church. This church was founded by his Father. Condolezza's mother Angelena worked at the same school. The difference is that she taught the subjects of music, science, and oratory. At the age of three Condoleezza learned French, music, figure skating, and ballet. When Rice was fifteen years old her biggest goal was to become a concert pianist. As she got older she noticed how she played and decided not to become a concert pianist. In other words she did not play the piano well enough to be a professional pianist. In the year 1967 the Rice family moved to Denver,Colorado. While in Colorado Condoleezza went to a private all girls school. The school was called Saint Mary's Academy in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado.
Condoleezza Rice was accepted to go to the University of Denver. The cool thing about it was that her father (John Wesley) served there as an Assistant Dean and taught a class called ''The Black Experience in America''. Condoleezza Rice attended a course called International Politics that was taught by Josef Korbel. This cool learning experience interested her a lot in the Soviet Union and international relations. Condoleezza shared this with Josef Korbel. She said,''You are one of the central figures in my life''. This made Josef Kobel really appreciate having taught her everything he knows.
In 1970 Condoleezza Rice graduated from Saint Mary Academy. At the age 19 in the year 1974 Condoleezza received a Bachelor's of Art in Political Science from Denver University. In the year 1975 she also received her Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame. In the year 1977 she obtained her first job. It was called the State Department during the Carter Administration. She worked as an intern in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. In the year 1981 at the lovely age of 26 she got her PhD. (Doctorate) in Political Science International Studies at Denver.
Condoleezza Rice was a Democrat until the year of 1982. She changed her political interests to become a Republican. This was because she disliked Jimmy Carter's foreign policy. Her father switched from a Democrat to a Republican also. In Condoleezza 's words to the Republican National Convention she said her father (John Wesley) joined their party because of the Jim Crow Law they have denied him from voting. Later, Rice got a job at Standford University. She was an Assistant Professor in her favorite subject which was Political Science. Condoleezza was the first woman administrator at Stanford. Condoleezza Rice has served as the Secretary of State since 2005. She is the first African American Woman, the second woman, and the second African American to serve as Secretary of State.
I am inspired by her because she is the first black woman as Secretary of State, one of the most the imporant positions in the government. Like I said before, she is very smart. She pushes herself to get where she wants to be. She has never let being an African American get in the way of her beautiful dreams. I will always try to do the same everyday of my life .
